Three apartments (102.1, 102.3, W86) have a wooden or printed board, each board with one LED per person. Every person at any point in time can set their LED. Display with extra message can be added. Maybe also voice comms.
Example moods:
- Off (no signal)
- Want to hang out / active
- Want to hang out / chill
- Want to cowork
- Do not disturb
- Need company/support
- Have food to give/share
Idea/goal is to spend more time together by making it easier/more fun to coordinate.
Setting your LED can be done either with small physical buttons on the board (or with an app, or Telegram bot, or multiple of these options).
Issues
- does it need privacy settings? e.g. someone would like to set “do not disturb” for their apartment, but not necessarily share that to neighbors?
- will it really be used?
- more or less only one way to find out
- if it would be a fun project together, it’s worth it just for that
- same if it’s my first hardware projec, and can be given as a present and/or sold on kleinanzeigen
Additional notes
- the amount of people using it would probably vary, could be cool if there’s a way to cover some LEDs while keeping a nice look
- would be also interesting if the design allowed extending to more people (like Johannes and Selia, or anyone new)
